Ableton Introduction & Intermediate Courses at CreateSound
Ableton Introduction Course (5 Weeks) from January 17, 2022 at 7pm
This course will introduce you to the basics of using Ableton and give you the know how to make your own track. Starting from ‘Session View’ we will take you through all the operations step by step adding on to the skills each week.
Covering areas such as
• MIDI Instruments & Melody Making
• Beat Programming
• Basic FX
• Arrangement
• Basic Mixing & signal processing
• Bringing your track together
You can work on your own basic creations alongside and we can review and feed back on individual progress and queries week to week. Joining in from your own home for short, productive sessions you can slip the training into your normal routine. No previous experience needed. All levels welcome.
Classes take place over Zoom with small numbers. We use some break out and some screen control for exercises and to change up the group learning. We show you how to export and share your work so we can listen and feed back as we go.

‘Tech Set Up’ session in advance
What you need
• A semi-decent Windows or Mac machine (>= 8GB RAM)
• Ableton Live 10/11 Software (‘Intro’ license provided if needed)
• Decent internet connection
Ableton Intermediate Course (5 Weeks) from January 19, 2022 at 7pm
This course is for people who are familiar with using Ableton but are looking to step up their skills, improve their output or could benefit from new techniques to bump up their music making. Whether it be getting your tracks finished, mixing, improving your sound, workflow, etc. There is more contact time allocated to this course to allow for tutor input and review of individual tracks per session etc.
Covering areas such as
• Housekeeping and Session set up
• EQ & Compression
• Mixing and Mastering
• Advanced FX
• Sampling/Simpler
• Creative processes, tips & tricks
There will be time allocated per session to review and feed back on progress on your own productions. Joining in from your own home you can slip the training into your normal routine & pick up new skills from home.
The first hour will cover techniques, theory and exercise. There is half an hour allotted after this for questions, group discussion/learning, individual track review, fix ups, etc.
Classes take place over Zoom with small numbers. We use some break out and some screen control for exercises and to change up the group learning. Real time export and file sharing is used to feed through tutor set up for group listening, as well as track/session sharing between sessions for review & critical listening etc.

What you need
• As a more experienced user we assume you have a decent laptop or workstation.
• Decent internet connection
• The course will be delivered through full Ableton Live 10/11 Suite. However the vast majority of content will transfer across to earlier versions. If you don’t have a full version of Ableton you can get a full version of Live 11 from Ableton.com for 90 days, we can help with that just let us know.
