A neuroscientist is a professional who specializes in the scientific study of the nervous system, including the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves. Neuroscientists investigate the structure, function, development, and disorders of the nervous system, aiming to understand how it processes information and controls various physiological and cognitive functions.
This interdisciplinary field draws on knowledge from biology, psychology, physics, computer science, and other related disciplines to unravel the complexities of the brain and nervous system. Neuroscientists use a variety of techniques, including neuroimaging, electrophysiology, molecular biology, and behavioral experiments, to explore topics such as neural development, sensory perception, learning and memory, motor control, and the neural basis of mental health disorders.
Their research contributes to advancements in medicine, psychology, and technology, with potential applications in areas such as neurology, psychiatry, artificial intelligence, and brain-machine interfaces.
“Ask a neuroscientist!”
Fens invite you to attend their upcoming webinar, “Ask a neuroscientist!”on 22 April 2022 at 2:00 – 3:00 pm. Do you have burning questions about the brain? How does memory work? Do people who are blind dream visually?” This webinar is a chance for the public to ask questions about the brain and get answers directly from the experts – FENS neuroscientists!
Fens is The Federation of European Neuroscience Societies is the voice of European neuroscience, representing more than 20,000 European neuroscientists. Its activities span five broad areas: scientific meetings, higher education and training, the European Journal of Neuroscience, outreach and advocacy and membership.
Join Eilís Dowd (IE), Rahul Gaurav (FR) and Violetta Zujovic and ask them great questions about the brain and neuroscience on 22 April 2022 at 2:00 – 3:00 pm.
This FENS Friday webinar is open to everyone! Register now and send your questions to the panellists.
