You can still apply for the Law Society of Ireland – Diploma Centre Massive Open Online Course (MOOC): Social Media And The Law.

It will be open for participants until 31 July.

This MOOC will provide participants with a comprehensive guide to the key social media issues arising in the context of changing Irish and EU regulations, together with an examination of other key social media developments and trends. Expert speakers, media lawyers and academics will examine many topics, including:

·         The rise of disinformation/fake news: Ciarán O’Connor, Senior Analyst, Institute for Strategic Dialogue

·         Content moderation: Siobhan Cummiskey, Director of Content Policy, Meta

·         Freedom of speech and defamation online: Dr. Eoin O’Dell, Associate Professor, School of Law, Trinity College Dublin

·         Social media and the Courts: Daniel Coady, Solicitor and Principal Privacy Counsel, RTÉ 

·         Online safety and media regulation: Niamh Hodnett, Online Safety Commissioner, Coimisiun na Meán

·         Digital Services Act: Hugh McCarthy, Legal Counsel, TikTok
