Smartt Science is providing free online learning resources and live video lessons for pupils on the theme of space science. Teachers can be assured that the content is accurate, up to date and appropriate for pupils aged 8 to 12 as lessons are designed through the Smarttscience.com teacher collaborations.

About Smartt Science for Kids

Every Tuesday morning at 11 o’clock, professor of astrophysics Stephen Smartt will be hosting a live video lesson via his YouTube channel. Before the lesson, download the lesson resources that Stephen Smartt will be using.

Ask the Professor

One of the most important things that pupils can do in a science class is to ask questions. During the live lessons, pupils or teachers can tweet questions to @smarttscience or email [email protected]. Questions will be answered by Professor Smartt during the live lesson.

About Professor Smartt

Stephen Smartt is a professor of astrophysics at Queen’s University Belfast. Astrophysics is the branch of space science that examines planets, galaxies, black holes, and all of the other objects drifting in the universe.

In this eight week series, Professor Smarrt will cover our solar system, rocky planets, gas & ice giants, dwarf planets, asteroids, comets, meteors, stars, life in extreme environments, and exo-planets.

The recordings of previous lessons along with their accompanying resources are available here.
