Join UCD In Conversation for a fascinating discussion of the role that the Arts play in exploring the work of restorative justice, Thursday, Sep 3 at 7PM

The discussion will bring together Dr Marie Keenan, Associate Professor, School of Social Policy, Social Work and Social Justice; Restorative Justice advocate Ailbhe Griffith and award-winning filmmaker Alan Gilsenan.

Following the violent sexual assault she had experienced eight years earlier, the summer she graduated from UCD, Ailbhe Griffith wanted to meet the man who had assaulted her. Marie was researching and practicing in the field of Restorative Justice and Ailbhe had heard of her work when her sister took Marie’s courses in UCD. Ailbhe contacted Marie to help her find a way towards healing and closure by meeting her assailant. The extraordinary meeting became the subject of a film by award-winning film director Alan Gilsenan in which Ailbhe played herself, showcasing the role arts can play in exploring the work of restorative justice.
