About the event
Sarah’s session discusses career transitions and how to prepare and learn on your feet through uncertain times of change. The discussion will be based around her experience of moving from junior roles on site into more central strategic roles and developing her career with increasing responsibility and seniority. As well as what it is like transitioning back to work after her second maternity leave and how she has assimilated back into work while trying to get a balance with home life. She will share what has, and importantly has not worked for her and what she continues to struggle with. The discussion will be a candid conversation where interaction is welcomed.

About the speaker
Sarah is a chartered civil engineer with over fifteen years’ experience in the construction industry. Her bachelor’s degree is in Civil Engineering from the University of Galway, she completed an Executive Leadership Certificate in Australia and most recently a Master of Studies in Construction Engineering at the University of Cambridge. She has managed design on complex projects amidst the challenging constraints of the nuclear and rail sectors. She enjoys facilitating collaboration between technical and non-technical stakeholders which has led to achieving multiple project milestones in high assurance environments. She has worked with international joint ventures across multiple countries giving her a broad experience of the industry. Since moving back to Ireland in 2021 Sarah works for Sisk in their Design Management and Innovation Department in both operational and strategic roles. She is passionate about continuous professional development and believes that mentorship is at the core of a more diverse sustainable future for the industry.
