Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Human Resource Management
One-year course designed for graduate nurses to top up their qualification to an Honours degree. Delivered one day per week from September to April/May.
This course is ideally suited to prepare graduate nurses (with a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing) who would like to top-up their qualifications to an Honours Degree level. If you are currently a registered nurse in Ireland and would like to pursue an Honours Degree in Nursing, then this course is for you too.
The aim of this course is to prepare graduate nurses for systematic reflection on their practice, enabling them to contribute to the development of:
Nursing knowledge
Theory
Practice
This course facilitates the provision of high quality and cost effective services for patients/clients.
Over the course of the year, students will have time to reflect upon the changing nature of Health Care, nationally and internationally, giving each participant time to analyse the context in which they provide care to patients. This course contributes to the development of knowledge and analytical skills of students and enhances action and decision making skills, providing a solid foundation for lifelong learning.
Students on this course develop specific skills pertaining to the facilitation of health gain, and the maintenance of health status, enhancing each graduate nurse’s employability and adaptability relevant to nursing employers across a variety of health care settings.
This course enables students to integrate (and inter-relate) knowledge, skills, and attitudes in the areas of management, clinical practice and generic areas of professional nursing, and then apply them to practice. This ‘top-up’ course draws on student’s prior learning and encourages further engagement in the process of lifelong learning.
The course is delivered via blended learning. Live content will be delivered online on Mondays with other work available online for you to complete in your own time. There will also be two days (Mondays) attendance per semester at the Mayo campus, so that you can meet your fellow students and lecturers (dates to be confirmed). Our lecturing staff at ATU Mayo are highly qualified, experienced and motivated, and utilise a variety of teaching and assessment methodologies to keep the level of learning and engagement exciting and interesting.
