With the guidance of a teaching scheme and support of professional faculty our Academy Online programme combines the flexibility of online learning with the structure and expertise of traditional education. We aim to empower our students with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in their exams and complete the programme.
PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
The Accounting Technicians Diploma is a two-year programme and each year is divided into 4 modules. Updated every year with the newest legislative and taxation changes, our syllabus equips you with employable business skills, and a strong technical knowledge of finance and accountancy practice.
Our programme syllabus has been tailored for students in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Please note for our January intake we only offer the Republic of Ireland syllabus.

The ATI Academy Online programme commences in late January with classes running until July, then online exams take place in August with a repeat session held in October. The ATI Academy Online programme follows a structured teaching scheme which outlines the 26-week programme including planned topics for each week. Classes will take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:15pm – 9:30pm each evening.

Classes will take place on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:15pm – 9:30pm each evening.
ONLINE CLASSES
All live online classes are hosted and recorded on Zoom and made available for viewing on our learning platform Moodle. Outside of class students are expected to engage in self-study activities. This will include activities such as reading from the course textbooks, attempting practice quizzes and exam-style questions, watching pre-recorded lectures, attempting sample exam papers and past exam paper questions, and homework activities assigned by lecturers. The time and effort required for self-study will vary for each student and will alter based on the weekly topics covered in class and at different stages of the academic year.
WHAT IS AN ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN?
- Accounting Technicians are qualified accounting professionals that works in all levels of business.
- They can work in every type of organisation and are widely employed throughout the public sector, industry and in private accountancy practices and well as self-employed.
- They are involved in the day-to-day work of accountancy and play a key operational role in producing reliable financial information. Accounting Technicians can perform a wide range of accounting roles, from accounts staff to financial controller and beyond.
- They can do financial accounting and budgeting, costing and credit control, payroll administration and tax returns. More experienced Accounting Technicians may often perform managerial tasks and audits.
WHAT DOES AN ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN DO?
- Maintaining a set of accounts is a fundamental element of any business from a sole trader to large multinationals.
- An Accounting Technician supports all elements of accounts function, including income and expenditure, balance sheet transactions, statutory returns, and payroll requirements.
- The Accounting Technician is concerned with bookkeeping and processes all accounts payable and receivable in order to prepare, or support the preparation of, periodic accounts. They record and monitor income and expenditure including accrued and deferred income.
- The Accounting Technician completes regular bank reconciliations and accounts for/completes statutory returns. Regular analysis and reports are undertaken to contribute to producing accounts.
- The Accounting Technician produces management accounts and supplies vital financial information as to the running of the Company. They have the ability to do costing and cost controls.
- The Accounting Technician prepares company annual budgets and monitors the progress of this throughout the year. They prepare, or assist in the preparation of, company year-end financial statements.

Entry Requirements | Republic of Ireland Ordinary level Leaving Certificate grades (including an O5 in English, and Maths or Accounting). OR 2 Higher level & 2 Ordinary Leaving Certificate grades (including an O5 in English, and Maths or Accounting). OR If you are over 21 years of age but do not possess the minimum educational requirements, you can still register as a mature learner, based on age and experience. Northern Ireland Either 1 A-level or 2 AS-levels, with grades in English, and Maths or Accounting, no lower than Grade C at GCSE level OR Those who have successfully completed a nationally recognised qualification such as a QQI award in the Republic of Ireland, or QCA and BTEC National Diploma in Northern Ireland, may be eligible to register. |
