Guitar for Beginners
This beginner’s course is designed to cater for guitar in general.
Tutor: Darren Loughran, MMus.
Darren Loughran is an Irish classical guitarist and music teacher from Dublin. Having begun his musical studies at an early age. He started on wind instruments and then progressed to the guitar in his early teens. Darren furthered his studies on the guitar in the Dublin Conservatory of Music, under the tutelage of Alan Grundy and later world renowned guitarist Denis
Azabagic before going on to receive a Masters Degree in performance and musicology in Maynooth University.
Aside from teaching Darren enjoys an active performance career in solo classical guitar recitals in Ireland and abroad.
Starting with simple song accompaniments using strumming and finger-style techniques, it will progress to solo guitar playing and reading music.
A strong emphasis is placed on the correct playing techniques as this will serve as a solid foundation for further study.
*Note: Nylon string guitar is recommended but not essential for this course. Guitar may be purchased at discount on advice from Darren, our tutor.
