Microbiology of Environmental Contaminants
The aims of this certificate are: to provide employees in the pharmaceutical industry with additional knowledge regarding the detection, characterisation and identification of contaminating microorganisms and their products (endotoxin) so as to enhance Quality Risk Management.
On completion of this programme, students should be able to:
Demonstrate an understanding of the significance of different types of microbial environmental contaminants in the context of sterile manufacturing and the consequences to patient health;
Demonstrate a knowledge of the means to identify contaminating microorganisms and resolve problems associated with microbial contamination;
Solve complex problems associated with microbial contamination;
Make decisions in relation to a complex and highly regulated environment and appreciate the limits of knowledge in the area of microbial contamination.

Entry Requirements | Applicants for this course should hold a Level 7 or equivalent qualification science, engineering or a related discipline.
