Psychology (An Introduction)
The aim of this programme is to give students an understanding of the major issues involved in the psychological development of human beings and how psychological theory can be applied in social and community care settings. Students will be introduced to the main theories and language of psychology.
This programme is an ECTS 10 credit level 6 module from the BA (Honours) in Applied Social Studies (Professional Social Care).
This programme should not be considered as a complete programme in Psychology but an introduction to the subject with an emphasis on social and community care settings.
On completion of this programme, students should be able to:
• Describe the different perspectives within psychology;
• Describe the major theories concerned with human psychological development;
• Critically evaluate theoretical perspectives;
• Apply psychological theories to social and community care settings.
