Special Needs Assistant Training  Level 5 & 6

Our SPECIAL NEEDS ASSISTANT ONLINE – QQI LEVEL 5 & 6 programme is available to take Fully Online and can be started at any time. Completion of any of our Special Needs Assisting programmes will qualify you to work as a Special Needs Assistant however, I would recommend taking the full programme as it will provide you with the best opportunity to differentiate yourself from others who may be seeking employment in the area. It is also fantastic value for money.

The combined course covers the follow modules, which can, if you wish can be taken as induvial programmes:

  • QQI Level 5 Component Certificate in Special Needs Assisting 5N1786
  • QQI Level 6 Component Certificate in Special Needs Assisting 6N1957

The College of Progressive Education’s QQI Level 5 & Level 6 Minor Award Special Needs Assisting Course is a qualification that will allow you to work as a special needs assistant in different settings. This combined SNA course consists of three modules: Special Needs Assisting (Level 5 5N1786) and Special Needs Assisting (Level 6 6N1957). The SNA combined QQI Level 5 & 6 course provides the learner with an in-depth understanding of children with additional needs, the role of a special needs assistant, and Irish Legislation.

Our Fully Online QQI level 5 & 6 SNA course can be started at any time that you wish, and learners have up to 20 weeks to complete the programme. Meaning that you can study and complete the programme at your own pace. This course is delivered through pre-recorded lectures with supporting materials as well as tutor support available if needs be. Students will have 20 weeks to complete this course. This course is designed for students who would prefer to take the online course and need complete flexibility in their time.

Course Content:
During this course, you will learn about development and learning in children with special needs and about the role of an SNA. You will learn about child development and behaviour theories. Learners will also explore different activities that promote physical, social, emotional and intellectual development in children with a variety of disabilities. This course will explore the role of the Multi-Disciplinary Teams to ensue integration, inclusion, and equal opportunities. This SNA Online Course also includes an overview of the primary and secondary school curriculum.

Accreditation:
Upon completion of this programme you will receive a QQI award at level 5-6 level for Special Needs Assisting.

Fees:
The course fee, when paid in full on enrolment, is €575. If you wish to avail of a flexible instalment plan you can do so through humm finance for €98.95 per month over 6 months (additional charges may apply).

Funding for jobseekers or eligible candidates
Job seekers wishing to participate on Progressive College’s extensive range of training courses may be eligible to avail of Department of Social Welfare funding to facilitate their entry to a particular training programme. The allocation of funding for participation in a Progressive College delivered course, will be solely at the discretion of Social Welfare job facilitator and will be dependent upon the availability of funding at the time of application and the applicant’s ability to satisfy the eligibility criteria.

To make an application for funding for your desired course from Department of Social Welfare the following steps need to be completed:

  • Arrange an appointment with a job facilitator in your local Department of Social Welfare office to check your eligibility for funding.
  • During the meeting with your Department of Social Welfare job facilitator, please inform the facilitator that completing the training course forms a key element of your back to work plan.
  • If you are successful in obtaining funding, your facilitator will provide you with funding forms for us to fill out.
  • Please post these forms to Progressive College, where they will be filled out and returned to your local social welfare office.
  • If you are successful in obtaining funding, please contact Progressive College to secure your place on the next available course
