Theatre making
The purpose of this course is to equip learners with the skills, knowledge
and competence to devise and perform a short, one-act piece of theatre in front of a live audience. The course is suitable for newcomers and experienced performers alike
who are looking for an opportunity to express themselves in a performative way through open collaboration in a safe, fun and creative environment.
This course is based on the principles of student-centred, project-based, ‘learning-by doing’ and will involve staging a play which no assigned roles making it the ideal basis for a collaborative learning experience.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
• Brief history of Theatre to include an
overview of different theatre styles
(Epic, Guerrilla,
• Physical, Mixed-Media, Minimalism
etc.)
• Overview of different acting styles and
techniques.
• Fundamentals of costume, stage,
sound and lighting design.
• Improv techniques and exercises.
• Introduction to creative philosophy.
• Collaborative direction and event
production.
• Voice projection and public speaking.
• Teamwork and collaboration skills.

performance in which all participants must be willing and able to perform in front
